Pressotherapie
During pressotherapy, the patient wears special garments, typically sleeves for the arms, boots for the legs, and an abdominal wrap for the torso. These garments are connected to a device that applies intermittent pneumatic compression to the limbs. The device inflates and deflates chambers within the garments in a sequential pattern, creating a gentle massage-like effect on the body.
The rhythmic compression and release of the garments help stimulate the flow of lymphatic fluid, encouraging the removal of excess fluid, toxins, and metabolic waste products from the tissues. This can reduce swelling, improve circulation, alleviate discomfort associated with lymphedema or venous insufficiency, and promote overall relaxation.
