Radiofrequency

We recommend radiofrequency (RF) sessions that have proven their effectiveness as a medical treatment for cellulite, especially in the form of "orange peel skin," on a more or less extensive area of the body.

The principle of radiofrequency is based on the emission of electromagnetic waves, generated between two electrodes applied to the body, at very high frequency (similar to radio waves). This allows heating the hypodermis (the layer under the skin where fat cells or adipocytes are located) without excessively raising the temperature of the skin surface.

In depth, the temperature reaches 65°C to 75°C, without causing pain. On the surface, it does not exceed 42°C to 43°C, thus preserving the integrity of the skin. If the temperature reached in depth is too low and/or maintained for too short a time, the results may not be satisfactory.

When the temperature reaches 65°C or higher, it leads to lipolysis: the evacuation of fat contained in each adipocyte, resulting in a decrease in their volume. This increase in temperature also alters collagen, which will be followed by skin remodeling, resulting in an improvement in texture and firmness in about 3 months.

Session duration

A session generally lasts about 30 minutes. It begins with the application of a neutral gel that maintains a uniform temperature on the treated area. Then, the practitioner moves and adjusts the emission head to raise the external temperature between 39°C and 42°C, which he maintains for the required time on the area to be treated, i.e. at least 20 minutes over the entire area. For the patient, the session is painless, she only feels a deep heat, rather pleasant.

Results of radiofrequency on cellulite

The results are quite rapid, sometimes visible from the first session but it takes six to eight sessions on average, spaced one to two weeks apart, to smooth the back of the thighs or cellulite located on the buttocks, for example. The optimal effects are obtained three months after the last session. A maintenance session should be planned once or twice a year.

Areas to be treated:

- Abdomen

- Hips (saddlebags)

- Thighs

- Buttocks

- Inner arms

Contraindications:

Precaution should be taken to avoid:

- Implanted electronic devices

- Significant skin atrophy.

AFME's opinion on cellulite treatment by radiofrequency:

First and foremost, it is essential to understand that not all devices are created equal. Results can vary significantly depending on the quality of the device. If the delivered temperature is insufficient, there will be no reduction in adipocytes.

Only localized fat deposits in certain areas resistant to weight loss are truly indications for radiofrequency. It does not lead to weight loss and does not replace nutritional management.

Furthermore, patience is required to achieve results, which not everyone understands.

Finally, for individuals seeking a gentle slimming technique, we can offer an alternative solution: low-intensity diodes or cold lasers combined with muscle exercise.
